Paws For Petting
Paws for Petting, the pet-assisted therapy program began in 2000 after careful consideration and preparation for allowing animals into the acute-care hospital setting. Since its beginning, the program has continued to attract people with their pets that would like to share the experience of visiting and uplifting patients and staff.
Therapy pets have been bringing comfort, hope and an uplifting experience to our patients for many years. Sharing your well-mannered, therapy-certified pet with others can be very rewarding.
What is Pet Therapy?
Pet therapy is a guided interaction between a person and a trained animal. It also involves the animal's handler. The purpose of pet therapy is to help someone recover from or cope with a health problem.
Who can join the Pet Therapy program?
You can join the program if you are at least 18 years of age and own a certified therapy pet.
